As part of its wind turbine technician training program, North Dakota-based Lake Region State College has dedicated a 1.6 MW wind turbine.
According to a Grand Forks Herald report, the $7.2 million project is located four miles from the school's campus. The turbine will supply power to Lake Region State College, with utility Otter Tail Power Co. purchasing any excess energy through a 15-year deal.
‘This project was the missing piece to our wind energy program,’ Doug Darling, college president, told the Grand Forks Herald. ‘We needed the turbine to turn a good program into a great one.’
