In the first half of 2014 (H1'14), Germany-based turbine maker Nordex achieved a 23.4% year-over-year increase in sales to EUR 815.4 million, and its earnings before interest and tax more than doubled to EUR 37.1 million from the same period last year.

Nordex says its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) business remained stable and attributes the company's growth to successes in new markets in Latin America and Asia. Sales in the Americas, in particular, rose at a three-digit rate.

The company says its forward order book continued to improve, with order intake in the first half of the year coming to EUR 908.9 million, up from EUR 839.4 million in H1'13. Of its orders, Nordex says more than 17% were for the new Generation Delta turbines.

Globally, the company's new installed capacity increased by around 19% to 667.3 MW, compared to 560.8 MW in H1'13.
