German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex says it has been installing its N117/2400 series wind turbines at the Beebe Renewable Energy project, which, when complete, will have a capacity of 81.6 MW.
The company says the first turbine was installed on Sept. 27 at the Gratiot County, Mich., site and that 17 of the 34 turbines are fully assembled. To date, 27 blade sets have been delivered to Michigan.
The project marks the start of series production of Nordex's N117/2400 nacelle at its Jonesboro, Ark., facility, as well as the beginning of series production of its NR58.5 rotor blade in Germany.
All of the blades are on their way to Michigan, and all of the turbines are expected to be installed by the end of the year.
Nordex also notes that it is planning to start production of the NR58.5 rotor blade in North America in 2013.
