New Bladeless Wind Turbine Prevents Harm To Birds And Bats

Middlesex, N.J.-based Sigma Design Co. says it has been contracted to test, analyze, refine, optimize and manufacturer the Catching Wind Power (CWP) compressed-air enclosed wind turbine, which was designed by engineer Raymond Green.

The CWP system is designed specifically to eliminate the risk of harming bats, birds and other flying wildlife. The turbine has no external blades; instead, it features a patented Inner Compression Cone Technology that squeezes the incoming air, compressing it as it is drawn through the turbine, and multiplies it, thus creating more power, Sigma Design explains, adding that the technology creates virtually no noise.

The turbine is offered in a wide variety of sizes, the company adds.
