National Wind Acquired By Indian Wind Energy Developer

Minnesota-based National Wind LLC has announced that it has been acquired by Indian wind energy developer Trishe Wind Energy Inc.

The acquisition occurred in December 2011. When asked why it waited so long to make the announcement, the company said the following:

‘National Wind and Trishe, as part of the acquisition process, extensively engaged with all stakeholders, including community members, in projects where National Wind had a stake,’ National Wind told NAW. "As such, with one private company acquiring another private company it was deemed not necessary to issue a press release."

National Wind says that under its new ownership, it will continue to develop community-partnered wind projects in the U.S.

However, the company adds that its development agreement with American Wind Alliance (the equity owners of AWA Goodhue) with respect to the Goodhue wind project – a 78 MW wind farm proposed for Goodhue County, Minn. – has been terminated.

National Wind also notes that its CEO, Peter Mastic, left the company in August and that Vivek Mittal, president of both Trishe Wind Energy and National Wind, is serving as the acting CEO of National Wind.
