San Diego-based developer enXco has tapped Minneapolis-based Mortenson Construction to build a 140 MW wind farm located on the south slope of the Tehachapi Mountains in Kern County, Calif.

Mortenson is responsible for the design and construction of access roads, foundations, erection, overhead and underground electrical collection system, and a 14,400 square-foot operations and maintenance facility that will support the Pacific Wind Project as well as other enXco projects slated for development in the area.

Construction on the wind farm will begin in December and is expected to be complete in August 2012.

The Pacific Wind Project is the 19th wind power facility that Mortenson has constructed in partnership with enXco.
