Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. of Bismarck, N.D., recently announced plans to construct a 20 MW wind farm near Baker, Mont., named Diamond Willow Wind.
‘We chose the site near Baker because it was the best fit for Montana-Dakota and our customers,’ says Bruce Imsdahl, Montana-Dakota's president and chief executive officer. ‘Eastern Montana has an excellent wind resource – the characteristics of the wind and the performance of the wind turbines will complement our existing generation in that area.’
According to Imsdahl, the wind farm is scheduled to go online by the end of this year and will consist of 13 1.5 MW turbines. In addition, the company plans to increase the project's capacity to 30 MW by 2014.
