Effective immediately, Des Moines, Iowa-based MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co. – the No. 1 owner of wind-powered electric generation among rate-regulated utilities – has changed its name to Berkshire Hathaway Energy.

According to company officials, the new name more accurately reflects its growing, diversified mix of businesses and the customers they serve. It also reinforces the company's strategy to own and operate a portfolio of high-quality assets and diversify through a disciplined acquisition strategy.

Notably, the company reports that businesses of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, such as PacifiCorp and NV Energy, will continue to be managed locally, and the names and operations of the businesses will not be affected.
