Mainstream Renewable Power Awarded 250 MW By South Africa A consortium led by global wind and solar company Mainstream Renewable Power was awarded preferred bidder status by the Department of Energy (DOE) in South Africa for two large-scale wind energy projects totaling 250 MW.

The wind farms – 140 MW Kangnas Wind Farm and the 110 MW Perdekraal East Wind Farm – represent an investment of $469 million and were awarded under the fourth round of the South African Government's Renewable Energy Procurement Program. The date for financial close has not yet been released by South Africa's DOE.

Since 2011, Mainstream Renewable Power has been awarded 848 MW of wind and solar projects under the program, which is more than any other developer.
