U.S. law firm Stoel Rives LLP has formed a multidisciplinary “Climate Change Initiative” team, which the firm says will help clients prepare for the risks and avail themselves of the opportunities resulting from the business and economic impact of climate change.

“New markets are emerging, and traditional markets are adapting to the many ramifications of climate change,” said Timothy L. McMahan, chair of the Climate Change Initiative and an energy and natural resource partner in the firm’s Portland, Ore., office.

Stoel Rives’ environmental, energy and natural resources practices are spearheading the initiative, which is also integrated into Stoel Rives’ Arctic law group in Anchorage, Alaska.

“Because of the fast pace of market, government and regulatory activity, we have created a collaborative effort among our various disciplines to enable our clients to address the project development, compliance, litigation, procurement and logistics issues climate change presents,” McMahan added.
