REpower Systems SE says it has installed the last of 30 6.15 MW wind turbines for the second phase of the Thornton Bank offshore wind farm, located off the Belgian coast.

The first phase of the Thornton Bank wind farm, located 28 kilometers off the coast in waters between 12 and 27 meters deep, was officially commissioned at the end of June 2009, following the installation of six of REpower's 5 MW wind turbines.

Including the project's second phase, the offshore wind farm will have a nameplate capacity of 215 MW. A third phase of Thornton Bank is also planned, REpower adds.

A consortium of companies, including CPower, the project's developer, are shareholders in the project. Other shareholders include RWE Innogy and EDF EN. Seawind, a consortium between DEME and Fabricom, was among the project's installation providers.
