Woodstock, Minn.-based Juhl Wind Inc. has appointed Edward Hurley as a director.

‘Ed's experience and reputation in the energy industry will directly enhance our development activity with electric transmission operators and electric utilities throughout the U.S.,’ says Dan Juhl, CEO of Juhl Wind. ‘As chairman of the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), Ed oversaw the regulatory initiatives of the fifth largest state in the country as he dealt with every aspect of utility deregulation and the growth of renewable energy, including wind.’

Hurley works for the law firm Chico & Nunes P.C. Prior to that, he served as the special director of the office of emergency energy assistance for the state of Illinois.

As chairman of the ICC, Hurley oversaw the work of nearly 300 employees and a budget of $128 million. During his tenure at the ICC, Hurley was involved in resolving issues dealing with the deregulation of the electric energy markets, the process for procurement of electricity by electric utilities, and mergers and acquisitions of telecommunications, electric and natural gas utilities.
