Italy-based Building Energy, a multinational company operating as Global Integrated IPP in the renewables industry, is building its first wind energy project, located north of Des Moines, Iowa.

The company has begun the second phase of construction for the 30 MW, $55 million project, which is scheduled for completion by the end of 2016, according to the company's project schedule. Balance of plant will be provided by general contractor Michels Corp.

The wind farm will consist of 10 ACCIONA Windpower 3 MW AW125/3000 turbines, which will produce 110,000 MWh of energy per year. The energy will be sold to local utility Alliant Energy and will satisfy the energy needs of 11,000 families.

Although the project will be the first wind farm developed by Building Energy, the company has been present in the U.S. since 2013 from its office in Washington, D.C.
