Greenville, S.C.-based Integrated Power Services (IPS), a provider of service and repair for electric motors, generators and mechanical power transmission components, has acquired Trico TCWind. Terms were not disclosed.

Trico TCWind is a family-owned power services company based in Litchfield, Minn., specializing in the North American service and repair of wind generators and turbines, as well as the repair of electric motors and other rotating equipment for the Minnesota regional market.

Trico TCWind will enhance the company's full-service capabilities, particularly in North American wind energy service and repair markets and providing a presence in the upper Midwest. The company says it has established relationships with North American wind energy operators, while working closely with leading wind turbine and generator original equipment manufacturers, helping to document and define service and repair standards.

‘Becoming part of the IPS family strengthens our wind energy markets and capabilities across the country,’ says Jason McDonald, Trico TCWind's CEO and co-founder. ‘We liked the idea of combining our focus on this new technology with the networked resources of IPS.’

IPS has also acquired the Monarch Group, a second-generation, family-owned power services company based in Cleveland. The company specializes in the repair, rewind and remanufacture of large and extra-large motors and generators for the metals, power generation, petrochemical and aggregate and cement industries.

‘Becoming part of IPS works for Monarch, because it opens up new markets to utilize our capabilities in heavy industrial repair and allows us to better serve our customers on a local, regional and national basis,’ says Ken Roller, Monarch's president. ‘Meanwhile, IPS can leverage the combined product offering and Monarch's presence in steel, power generation and refineries.’
