Idaho Power Asks For Approval Of Proposed Sales Agreement With Wind Projects

0

Idaho Power Co. is asking the Idaho Public Utilities Commission to approve a sales agreement with two wind projects in the Hagerman area that, when combined, are expected to have a capacity of 35.7 MW.

The owner of the projects, Iowa-based John Deere Renewables, plans to eventually combine the two projects into one when the second one becomes operable.

The 18.9 MW Cassia Gulch Wind Park, about four miles west of Idaho Power's lower Malad substation, is already in operation. A new 16.8 MW project, Tuana Springs, will be built adjacent to Cassia Gulch and is expected to be in operation by June 30, 2010.

When Tuana Springs becomes operable, the existing sales agreement with Cassia Gulch will terminate and be replaced with a new agreement that includes a blended rate for both the Cassia Gulch and Tuana Springs projects.

The commission is taking comments through Sept. 23 on the proposed sales agreement.

Comments are accepted via e-mail by accessing the commission's Web site, puc.idaho.gov. The case number is IPC-E-09-24.
