Ice-Protection Provider To Enter Wind Energy Market

IMS-ESS, a provider of ice protection for unmanned aerial vehicles in the aerospace and military markets, has announced that it will enter the wind power market in the first quarter of 2013.

With its patented electro-expulsive deicing system technology – which the company says removes all types of ice and snow – IMS-ESS will provide ice-protection safety for wind turbine blades.

The IMS-ESS deicing system uses a combination of low power and high acceleration, shattering harmful ice buildup from blade edge surfaces without heat or special coatings that require ongoing maintenance, IMS-ESS explains.
