Iberdrola Taps Gamesa To Supply 202 MW For Texas Project

Gamesa has signed a deal to supply Iberdrola with turbines for a 202 MW wind project in southern Texas.

Under the agreement, Gamesa will provide 101 of its G97-2.0 MW machines for the Baffin wind farm, marking the company's largest single order for the turbine model. The turbines are scheduled for delivery mid-2014, and the facility is slated for commissioning toward the end of next year.

The Baffin project is still under development, and the decision to proceed is contingent upon local government approval. However, Gamesa says Iberdrola is well positioned to utilize the 202 MW of turbines at other possible U.S. sites.

The Baffin wind project is the last phase of Iberdrola's Penascal complex, which once commissioned, will have a capacity of 606 MW.
