In response to the recent bioenergy initiative announced by Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, Houston Technology Center (HTC), a nonprofit business incubator, plans to place increased emphasis on renewable energy technologies
HTC will identify emerging companies developing technologies that support the energy sector and provide business guidance, mentoring, networking and education to help those companies grow and commercialize their technologies. Specific areas of focus will include biofuels, wind energy and hydro energy, the company adds, as well as more efficient and environmentally conscious methods for exploration and production of conventional energy.
‘To maintain our status as the global energy capital, Houston must leverage its leadership in conventional energy to promote renewable energy development, ensuring a steady energy supply while preserving a healthy environment,’ says Walter Ulrich, president and chief executive officer of HTC.
