Greengate Power Receives Interconnection Proposal

Greengate Power Corp. has received an interconnection proposal for its 300 MW Blackspring Ridge Wind Project, located in southeastern Alberta.

According to the company, Greengate is the first wind project developer to receive an interconnection proposal in Alberta since May 2006, when the province and the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) imposed a cap that limited the amount of wind power produced in Alberta to 900 MW. The 900 MW cap was removed in September 2007.

The AESO provided Greengate with a formal interconnection proposal for the Blackspring Ridge Wind Project after preliminary discussions indicated that the proposed interconnection to the transmission system was technically feasible and that there was likely available transmission capacity for the project.

Targeted for completion in 2010, the Blackspring Ridge Wind Project is being developed on more than 40,000 acres of private land and is adjacent to a 240 kV transmission line with available capacity.
