Greengate Power Corp. has received municipal approvals for the construction of three Alberta wind projects totaling 550 MW. These approvals were provided by the counties of Lethbridge, Warner, Vulcan and Paintearth.

The three projects – Blackspring Ridge (300 MW), Halkirk (150 MW) and Stirling (100 MW) – will have a capital cost in excess of C$1 billion. Greengate expects to begin construction on the projects in 2009 or 2010.

‘Obtaining municipal approvals is a major milestone in our project development efforts,’ says Dan Balaban, president and CEO of Greengate. ‘We look forward to ongoing dialogue with the municipalities and local communities as we continue to develop our projects.’
