GL Renewables Certifies Sinovel Offshore Wind Turbine

0

GL Renewables Certification (GL RC) has issued a statement of compliance (SOC) for the A-design assessment of the Sinovel SL 3000/90 50 Hz offshore wind turbine.

The SOC confirms that SL 3000/90 meets the requirements of GL RC's ‘Guideline for the Certification of Offshore Wind Turbines,’ Edition 2005, which addresses the safety philosophy, quality assurance and engineering integrity of the turbine, and that the turbine complies with the standard in terms of the verification of its load assumptions and design.

The turbine integrates advanced power-generating technologies, such as variable speed control, a pitch regulation system and double-fed inductive generator.

The SL3000 series is suitable for onshore, offshore and intertidal installation, and is designed to be adaptable to a variety of wind energy resource conditions. It is also available in a cold-climate version and a 60 Hz version. With a rated power of 3 MW, a rotor diameter of 90/105/113m and a hub height of 80/90/110m, the SL3000 series employs several patented technologies and has a low-voltage ride-through capability.

GL Renewables Certification is also charged with the approval of the Sinovel SL3000 onshore variants, which are currently under certification.
