Geronimo Energy LLC has sold its 78 MW Black Oak Getty wind project to Sempra U.S. Gas & Power.

Geronimo has been retained to assist in the completion of Black Oak Getty's development phase. The wind farm, located across approximately 12,000 acres in Stearns County, Minn., is expected to achieve commercial operation at the end of 2016.

A purchase price was not disclosed.

The Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) has agreed to buy 100% of the project's output under a long-term power purchase agreement. The procurement of energy from the project will help the MMPA meet its commitment under Minnesota's 25% by 2025 renewable portfolio standard.   Â

‘We are pleased to have the opportunity to diversify and expand our renewables portfolio through the acquisition, development and operation of the Black Oak Getty wind project,’ says Patricia K. Wagner, president and CEO of Sempra U.S. Gas & Power. ‘We look forward to providing Minnesota with a stable supply of clean, renewable energy and becoming a long-term partner with the local community through the development and operation of this project.’
