Lavelle succeeds Anders Soe-Jensen, who will continue as offshore wind’s commercial and business development leader.

In this role, Lavelle will lead the global business strategy, with the mission to become one of the top three players in the offshore wind industry globally, the company says.

Lavelle is a 33-year company veteran, having led several GE businesses, such as digital energy and gasification, as well as GE energy project operations, where he oversaw a $75 billion project portfolio. He also led GE’s international energy activities in China, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Jerome Pecresse, president and CEO GE Renewable Energy, comments, “John is an outstanding CEO, with a proven track record in business development and project execution across many GE businesses. His global experience and deep knowledge of the company will help our offshore business benefit from entire GE store, while also instilling new digital capabilities into the growing offshore segment.”
