Gamesa To Build 220 MW Wind Farm In Egypt Gamesa has signed a contract for the turnkey construction of the 220 MW Gulf of El Zayt wind farm, located on the Egyptian Red Sea coast.

Per the contract, Gamesa will handle the supply, installation and commissioning of 110 G80-2.0 MW turbines, beginning this September. The reliability and adaptability of this turbine make it the deal choice for the desert land, corrosive atmosphere and high temperatures typical of the Egyptian market, Gamesa says.

The company will also handle the construction of the civil engineering and electric infrastructure needed to install and operate the facility and will provide operations and maintenance services for three years. Commissioning of the wind farm is expected in the second half of 2017.

The project, which was awarded by the New & Renewable Energy Authority through an international request for proposal, will receive public financing from the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
