Gamesa has announced it will supply EDP Renewables (EDPR) with wind turbines for the 100 MW Amazon Wind Farm US Central, located in Paulding County, Ohio.
Under the terms of the agreement, Gamesa will handle the transport, installation and commissioning of 48 of its G114-2.1 MW turbines for the project. Turbine deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2016, and the wind farm is expected to achieve commercial operation by the end of 2016.
As announced in November, EDPR is building and will operate the wind farm, and Amazon will receive the project's entire output to power current and future data centers.
Gamesa says this project brings the total volume of firm orders for its G114-2.0 MW and G114-2.1 MW models to over 2 GW, and the company notes it has installed more than 4.1 GW of its wind turbines in the U.S.
