Gamesa Signs O&M Agreement With Spanish Conglomerate

Gamesa has signed a seven-year operations and maintenance (O&M) agreement with FCC covering 397 wind turbines that have a total output of 421 MW. The deal includes maintenance on 120 660 kW, 184 850 kW and 93 2 MW turbines across 14 wind farms in Spain.

Under the terms of the agreement, Gamesa will install its algorithm improvement program in FCC's 850 kW and 2 MW turbines. This program optimizes turbine productivity by enhancing load curves and increasing operating ranges. FCC's 2 MW turbines will also be fitted with Gamesa Premium Availability (GPA) system, which is designed to boost availability, diminish risks and reduce the cost of energy.

From operational and software upgrades to minor repair work, the company says GPA streamlines logistics for major repair work and preventative maintenance systems. The design and process improvements maximize turbine availability and can lower a wind farm's operating expenses by up to 10%.

Spain-based construction, infrastructure and water management services provider FCC has a presence in more than 50 countries, Gamesa notes.
