Finland, Brazil, Africa – Oh my! Gamesa has revealed three new deals totaling a potential 525 MW across the globe.
The company has signed a framework agreement for the supply of up to 285 MW of its 5 MW turbines with TuuliWatti Ltd., the wind energy joint venture between Finnish energy company St1 Ltd. and retail cooperative S-Group.
The agreement contemplates the potential supply – in 2015 and 2016 – of up to 57 5 MW turbines, from its G128 and G132 models, to several of the local wind farms planned for construction by the Finnish company. Gamesa will also provide the operations and maintenance (O&M) services for a period of 10 years.
This new framework agreement is the second signed by Gamesa with the Finnish company in less than one year, having reached a master agreement at the end of 2012 for the supply of 135 MW.
Gamesa has also signed a 210 MW supply contract with Brazilian wind developer Casa dos Ventos Energias Renovaveis. Under the terms of the agreement, Gamesa will supply, transport, install and commission 105 G97-2.0 MW turbines at the Chapada wind farm being developed in Chapada do Araripe in the state of Piaui. It has also signed an agreement in principal to manage the farm's maintenance for five years.
Delivery of the turbines, which will be made at Gamesa's factory in Camacari, is scheduled for some time after the first quarter of 2015, with the facility slated for completion in the second half of that year.
Furthermore, Gamesa has signed a 30 MW contract in Mauritania, Africa. Under the agreement, the company will supply and install 15 G97-2.0 MW wind turbines for the Nouakchott wind farm being built by Elecnor for the Mauritanian publicly owned utility Somelec. In addition, Gamesa will perform O&M services for 11 years. Turbine delivery is scheduled for early next year. The wind farm is slated to be built in mid-2014.
