Turbine manufacturer Gamesa has signed a turbine supply agreement with Santa Vitoria do Palmar Holding, a Brazilian investment fund comprising Rio Bravo Energia I and Eletrosul.
Under terms of the agreement, Gamesa will install 129 of its G97-2.0 MW turbines at 10 wind farms, which will be developed by Santa Vitoria do Palmar Holding in southern Brazil. Additionally, the contract includes a 20-year operation and maintenance contract.
Gamesa plans to begin installing the turbines late in the first half of 2013 and complete the process in the first quarter of 2014.
Gamesa says this is its first contract signed with a subsidiary of Electrobras, Brazil's national power company, which accounts for 36% of Brazil's electricity.
