Spanish turbine maker Gamesa has been chosen to construct a 40 MW wind farm in India for independent power producer ReNew Power. The 40 MW wind farm will be situated in Ron, located in the state of Karnataka.

The agreement with ReNew Power includes the installation of 20 G97-2.0 MW class S turbines. The 104-meter turbine has been custom designed for the low-wind-speed sites typical of India, according to Gamesa.

Because it is a turnkey contract, Gamesa will also provide the infrastructure needed to install and operate the facility and will service the wind farm on a long-term basis. The wind farm’s commissioning is scheduled for September.

Gamesa has already commissioned over 140 MW of wind projects for ReNew Power across Maharashtra and Karnataka, and this order will be the fourth order from ReNew Power.
