The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) has extended the comment period on the proposed rule (published on April 13) to revise the regulations governing permits for non-purposeful take of golden eagles and bald eagles, including those necessary for the development of wind energy projects.

The comment period for changes to the regulations will now close July 12. The proposed regulation changes include increasing the maximum term for programmatic permits from five years to 30 years and increasing permit application processing fees for such long-term permits.
