E.ON Climate & Renewables North America says it has energized the first wind turbines at the Pioneer Trail wind farm, located in Illinois' Ford and Iroquois counties.

When the project is fully placed into service – which is expected to occur by mid-2012 – 94 GE 1.6 MW turbines will provide more than 150 MW of power to more than 45,000 households in Illinois using turbines, blades and towers manufactured in North America, E.ON explains. Construction of the project is being done by White Construction.
