Escondido, Calif.-based enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles company, and Indianapolis Power & Light Co. (IPL) have entered into a power purchase agreement for the 201 MW Lakefield Wind Project to be built in southwestern Minnesota.
enXco will develop, build and own the wind project, which will consist of 134 1.5 MW GE wind turbines, while IPL will purchase the power generated under a 20-year power purchase agreement. The project, expected to be operational by the end of 2010, will be operated and maintained by enXco Service Corp.
‘This agreement between enXco and IPL builds on the experience our two companies attained through the development of the 106 MW Hoosier Wind Project in Benton County, Ind., which is currently under construction,’ says Tristan Grimbert, president and CEO of enXco.
The Lakefield Wind Project, which is subject to the approval of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, as well as the Minnesota Public Utility Commission, is the result of an requests for propoals issued by IPL in December 2008.
