Enercon Supplying 90 MW Dutch Repowering Project

Enercon is supplying 12 new 7.5 MW wind turbines to RWE for a repowering project in the Netherlands.

RWE has already begun construction on the 90 MW Zuidwester wind farm, and the project will feature E126 turbines, which have a hub height of 135 meters and a rotor diameter of 127 meters. They will be erected on a site alongside two dykes, the Westermeerdijk and the Zuidermeerdijk dyke. The existing turbines of RWE's Westermeerdijk (50 turbines) and Zuidermeerdijk (four turbines) wind farms will be removed at the same time.

RWE says that as soon as the access roads have been built and crane platforms set up, Enercon will start laying the foundations. The construction of the towers will commence in the beginning of 2015. RWE expects to commission the Zuidwester wind farm in 2017.
