Enel North America Inc., a subsidiary of Enel SpA that owns and operates renewable energy plants in North America, has entered into an agreement with Windkraft Nord USA (WKN USA), a developer of wind power projects, to buy all of the interest and rights to the 63 MW Snyder Wind Project that will be developed in Scurry County, Texas, next year.
Under the contract, WKN USA will remain involved in the project as the construction manager. This agreement represents WKN's first project in the U.S., the company says.
‘Enel North America marks another step forward in wind power, fully in line with our strategic target to grow in renewable worldwide,’ says Fulvio Conti, Enel's chief executive officer. ‘This deal, coupled with the partnership we signed in September with TradeWind Energy to develop over 1,000 MW of wind capacity, further confirms Enel's strong commitment to develop the wind market in the U.S.’
The Snyder project will use Vestas' V90 3 MW wind turbine generator, which represents the first time that this turbine model will be used at a project of this size in the U.S., the companies add.
