EDP Renovaveis SA (EDPR) says it has secured 1 GW of new power purchase agreements (PPAs) in the U.S. so far this year. According to the company, this includes 250 MW for projects already in operation and 750 MW for new projects slated to be installed in 2014 or later.

This week, EDPR announced its latest PPA. The 20-year agreement, secured through subsidiary EDP Renewables North America, is for a 20 MW extension of its Rising Tree North wind farm.

According to EDPR, the 20 MW addition will increase the California wind farm to 100 MW, and work is expected to begin in 2014. EDPR did not disclose further information regarding the agreement. Earlier this year, the company entered a PPA for the other 80 MW phase of the project with an unnamed party.
