EDF Renewable Energy Places 194 MW Texas Order With Vestas

Vestas has received a 194 MW order for V100-2.0 MW turbines from EDF Renewable Energy. This order is a call under the master supply agreement (MSA) between the two companies for multiple U.S. sites. Announced in September 2013, the MSA has the potential to total 1.174 GW, and Vestas has secured 494 MW under the agreement thus far.

The V100-2.0 MW turbines will be supplied for projects located in the Texas Panhandle and will include a multi-year Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service agreement for five years. Delivery is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2015, with commissioning completed the same year.

Chris Brown, president of Vestas' sales and service division in the U.S. and Canada, says this latest order will help keep the company's Colorado factories busy. Last November, the turbine maker announced plans to begin hiring hundreds of new workers at its four Colorado plants, citing heightened demand for turbines in 2013.
