EarthFirst Canada Inc., a wind developer based in Calgary, Alberta, has announced the installation of British Columbia's first commercial wind turbine on the corporation's 144 MW Dokie Wind Project.
The 3 MW Vestas V90 wind turbine was fully assembled at the construction site. It is the first of seven turbines to be installed this year. The project is expected to begin producing power for homes in British Columbia in early 2009. The remaining 41 turbines will be installed in 2009.
‘Installation of the wind turbines at the Dokie I project site is on schedule,’ says Linda Chambers, president and CEO of EarthFirst Canada. ‘We expect to meet our commitment of having turbines energized by year end.’
