Accumetrics Associates Inc., a Schenectady, N.Y.-headquartered provider of products that obtain sensor data from rotating components, has introduced the Earth Fault Resistance Monitor (EFREM) that prevents generators from failing.

According to the company, the EFREM monitors up to 80 megohms in large, brushless generators. The wireless digital telemetry charts earth fault severity and provides predictive maintenance condition monitoring.

"In the wind power sector, this technology is appropriate for generators such as a salient pole synchronous generator and squirrel cage induction generator," says Mark Klein, director of sales and marketing for Accumetrics.
