Turbines From Mitsubishi Picked

Investment and advisory firm Babcock & Brown, a developer and owner of wind power projects, has selected Mitsubishi's wind turbine generators for four new projects totaling 443 MW scheduled for construction during 2006-2007.

The Buena Vista project in Northern California will utilize 38 of Mitsubishi's 1-MW 1000A turbines and is expected to be completed by the end of 2006. The Aragonne Mesa project in New Mexico will utilize 90 of Mitsubishi's 1-MW units and is expected to be commercial by the end of 2006. An additional 135 of Mitsubishi's 1.0 MW turbines is slated for Babcock & Brown's Sweetwater expansion project in Texas, expected to be completed by fall 2007.

The final 180 of Mitsubishi 1.0 MW units are slated for a Colorado project being codeveloped by Babcock & Brown is expected to be commercial by the end of 2007. Mitsubishi Power Systems (MPS), the U.S. subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, will also provide commissioning, installation support and maintenance for five years for all of these projects.
