Nordex says it has finalized an agreement with Usinas y Trasmisiones Electricas (UTE), Uruguay's state power company, for the sale of 28 of its N117/2400 wind turbines.

The turbines will be installed at the Juan Pablo Terra wind farm, which will be located near the Uruguay-Brazil border, a few miles from the city of Artigas. The project will be the largest wind farm owned by UTE. Delivery of the turbines is slated to begin in February 2014, and the project is expected to be completed in June 2014.

Nordex will be responsible for the delivery, installation and commissioning of the turbines, as well as for the ongoing maintenance for a minimum of 10 years.

This marks Nordex’s second order in Uruguay this week: On Monday, the company announced that it signed a deal with Akuo Energy to provide 21 N117/2400 2.4 MW turbines for a wind project to be located about 100 km from the capital city of Montevideo.
