Superior Farms, a processor and supplier of lamb, has installed a wind turbine at its Dixon, Calif., processing facility.

The 1.0 MW Mitsubishi turbine has a 55-meter tower and a blade diameter of 61.4 meters. It is scheduled to be operational by the beginning of next year and is expected to offset about 50% of the facility's energy use.

The project has a 20-year power purchase agreement, in which Foundation Windpower installed, owns and operates the wind turbine and Superior Farms purchases the power produced.
