TransCanada Corp. has announced that the Gros-Morne wind farm has been completed and officially commissioned in Quebec.

The wind farm comprises Gros-Morne I and II, which have a combined capacity of 211.5 MW. Gros-Morne is the final phase of the larger 590 MW Cartier Wind Energy project, which will produce enough electricity to power about 100,000 Quebec homes, according to TransCanada. All of the power produced by the project is being sold to Hydro-Quebec under 20-year power purchase agreements.

Cartier Wind Energy is the largest wind farm in Canada. TransCanada owns a 62% stake in the project, and Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. has a 38% stake.
