Duke Energy Carolinas has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for energy and renewable energy certificates (RECs) produced from wind generation that can be delivered to the Duke Energy Carolinas transmission system.

Duke will also accept bids for the RECs, without the associated energy, from qualifying wind generation facilities located within North Carolina. The company is purchasing the energy and RECs as part of its compliance with the North Carolina renewable energy and energy efficiency portfolio standard.

Proposals from qualified bidders will be evaluated based on cost and other factors.

Duke seeks offers of RECs from facilities in service no later than Dec. 31, 2014. Proposals are due no later than Oct. 14 at 5 p.m. ET. Interested parties should review the full request for proposal guidelines here.
