West Fargo, N.D.-based DMI Industries, a subsidiary of Otter Tail Corp., recently selected Tulsa, Okla., as the location for its third wind tower manufacturing facility.

According to the company, once the required approvals and permits are finalized, the plant will support more than 3,000 MW of installed wind project capacity. In addition, it will be able to produce and deliver offshore wind turbine towers, which are larger than their land-based counterparts, the company says.

‘DMI has achieved success in Canada and across the northern tier of the U.S. thanks to strong demand,’ says Lars Moller, DMI's president. ‘We plan to do the same things in Oklahoma and the south-central U.S. that enabled that success.’

The company expects to have the facility upgraded and customized by early 2008, DMI adds.
