Big-name offshore wind players Statoil, E.ON, Vattenfall and DONG Energy will vie to develop the 400 MW Horns Rev 3 wind project, to be located off the coast of Denmark.
The Danish Energy Agency has prequalified the four companies to bid for the Horns Rev 3 tender. This means that all four applicants have been selected to submit a first indicative offer for the concession contract where price is the only criteria.
"The Danish Energy Agency today is prequalifying a range of both known and new players in the Danish wind power market. The outcome is highly satisfactory considering both the number and profile of the prequalified applicants," Morten Baek, CEO of the Danish Energy Agency. "It is difficult to imagine a more competitive field in today's market. Strong competition is the key to lowering the costs for offshore wind energy."
