ContourGlobal To Build Peru’s First Large-Scale Wind Farms

0

ContourGlobal, through its subsidiary ContourGlobal Latam SA, says it will construct two wind farms in Peru.

The company acquired the wind projects from Energia Eolica SA (EESA), which has been developing the projects. Called the Cupisnique and Talara wind farms, the projects have an installed capacity of approximately 114 MW.

The Cupisnique project will use 45 Vestas V100-1.8 MW turbines, and the Talara project will use 17 V100-1.8 MW turbines. When completed, they will be the first large-scale wind farms to be built in Peru and the largest operational wind farms in South America outside of Brazil.

The output of the projects will be sold under 20-year power purchase agreements as part of Peru's RER program. Both wind farms will also construct a new substation and transmission line to connect with the Peruvian national grid.
