Enel Green Power North America Inc. (EGP NA) and TradeWind Energy have begun construction on the Rocky Ridge wind project in Oklahoma's Kiowa and Washita counties.

The wind farm spreads across 18,000 acres of land, leased from 75 landowners. The project's installed capacity will total approximately 150 MW and consist of 93 1.6 MW wind turbines. Once fully operational, the facility will generate approximately 630 GWh annually, supplying power to approximately 55,000 U.S. households, according to the companies.

The project has a power purchase agreement with the Western Farmers Electric Cooperative. The overall investment in the project amounts to approximately $250 million, which is fully financed by Enel Green Power and is part of the 2011-2015 investment program already disclosed to the market back in March this year.

The project is expected to enter operation in summer 2012.
