Carpinteria, Calif.-based Clipper Windpower PLC, a manufacturer and developer of wind turbines, has completed a new sales agreement with a subsidiary of UPC Wind, a wind energy developer, for the supply of 200 MW of Clipper's 2.5 MW Liberty wind turbines to be delivered in 2008.
Under the terms of the agreement, Clipper will deliver 80 Liberty wind turbines that will be manufactured at the company's Cedar Rapids, Iowa, facility. Clipper will provide installation supervision, operations and maintenance services for a period of five years, the company says. The turbines will be utilized by UPC Wind for projects that will be developed in the western U.S.
The announcement represents the third sales and service transaction completed this year between Clipper and UPC Wind, the companies add, totaling 345 MW of 2.5 MW wind turbines to be delivered in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
