Natural Resources Minister Gary Lunn and Minister of Environment John Baird have announced the Canadian Government's ecoEnergy Technology Initiative, which is a $230 million investment in the research, development and demonstration of clean energy technologies.

According to the government officials, the initiative will accelerate the development of clean energy solutions. The approach is built on priorities that include carbon dioxide sequestration, clean coal, clean oil sands production and renewable energy.

‘As part of our environmental agenda, Canada's new government is introducing this important initiative to protect Canadians' top priority – the environment – while building a competitive and sustainable economy,’ says Baird.
