The BC Hydro and Power Authority has enlisted SNC-Lavalin to design and build a 230 kV switchyard, located approximately 23 kilometers northwest of Tumbler Ridge in British Columbia, Canada.

According to SNC, the switchyard will serve as the point of interconnection to the BC Hydro power grid for the 180 MW Meikle Wind Energy Project, which is being developed in the Peace River region. The wind farm will provide approximately 180 MW of energy. The technical design for the 230 kV switchyard is under way, and its proposed in-service date is Oct. 31, 2016.
